#BlkNz365 - We celebrate our history 365 days/year (plus some) . . . We acknowledge Augusta Savage (February 29,1892 - March 26, 1962) who was a very inspiring sculptor, artist, and activist. She was associated with the Harlem Renaissance and gave the world many thought provoking pieces that showed the struggle of black people in America in a beautiful way. There are many ways to make #blknz and she accomplished doing so with her hands and heart through art. . . . Often Black History Month brings out the same narrative of history: The all too familiar “I have a dream, Rosa Park stayed seated, maybe edgy mention of Malcolm X as our revolution’s antagonist" kind of history.
