V & I have been talking about adoption lately, but we're nowhere near ready to be in a place to become moms. NaBloPoMo - Day 1 (for me)
I didn’t get to post yesterday, but BlogHer started their NaBloPoMo today, so I’m not that far behind! This is good because I have to write every day for the next week to finish my thesis paper. This is a good warmup, right?! :)

What was the one toy that a friend had that you wished you had when you were little?

I was the oldest of three children and for reasons that I guess I’m happy about, I didn’t get the typical “girl” toys when I was a kid. I loved being outside, playing baseball, basketball and anything the neighborhood kids were doing.
However, when I was a kid, I didn’t think I was normal when . I didn’t have a Barbie doll, or her cool dollhouse or Skipper or Ken or even Stacy (seriously...a doll named after me!?)
I thought it was probably the cost. Barbies weren’t cheap, even back in the early 80s. However the two dolls that I do remember receiving from my parents were The Bionic Woman (which I thought was cool because she had a place to open her leg and see the electronics) and Wonder Woman.
Now, I think, wow Mom, you were ahead of your time. :) I didn’t quite fit in, but I also had some strong women to look up to.
I grew up and my second big girl job was working for eToys, an online toy store that was part of the dot-com craziness in 98-2000. I had my own money to buy my own Barbie dolls (yes, I bought them darn it!). Are you curious which ones I got?
