Kominfo, the Department of Communication and Information of the Indonesian government is blocking every single website. There's no more Yahoo!, no more PayPal, no more Steam, and a whole array of other websites!

The reason? Well its cause any private sector business or entity that provides a digital platform such as games, websites and apps, is required to register to Indonesia's government as a private entity to be licensed so they can market their products here.

Now the fucked up thing yeah? The reason they're doing this is dubious at best. Around 2021 they made a modification to the law regarding digital platforms which goes against our right to freedom of speech and self expression.

(1) Private Sector Digital Platform Creators/Organizations (PSE) must give access to user traffic data, and application subscriber data when asked by Law Enforcers and will submit their data to the Contact Person of the Governmental Organizer of the PSE
(3) Private Sector Digital Platform Creators/Organizations give access to Communication Content that's asked by Law Enforcers regarding such requests will be handed over officially to the Private Sector Digital Platform Creator/Organization.

JUST. WHAT. Is considered unsettling? This law is absolutely bonkers, and it will be used against the people. It will be used to cover stories, news, self expression, truth and so much more.
TLDR: The government is gonna ban content they do not like.
And this may include writers, content creators, LGBT issues, violent games, commentary/critique against the government, innovation they think is too risky and normal people like you and I will be surveilled.
