Orange and Blue Story, Part 1…Blondie Exhibit with Scooter LaForge’s Concert T-shirt.
Last Tuesday, after getting together for office time at Little Skips, Bubi and I walked around Bushwick to go to some vintage stores, like Vice Versa and Worship. We saw some shirts we liked and also stopped at a schoolyard where a mural featuring Jesus made for a perfect frame for a photo.
I was wearing a t-shirt I got from Scooter when visiting his studio a while back, with his design for a recent Blondie tour, inspired by the Vultures t-shirt Debbie Harry wore in the “Atomic” video. Its various shades of orange and grey inspired me to go for an orange and blue story, pairing with Scooter’s 514 Levi’s jeans, my Mountain hat—customized by Lord Warg—, vintage Gap 1969 denim jacket, distressed Nike Dunk Low Pro SB Reese Forbes Hunter sneakers from 2004, vintage rhinestone brooch that Jesse gave me, bronze crucifix, “Tuesday” socks from a stand on Delancey Street, and a J. Morrison Homocats 2014 tote bag which he gifted me.
(Before heading to Little Skips, I had met Scooter for morning coffee at Heaven’s Hot Bagel, a favorite neighborhood spot; he Instagrammed a photo of me ordering at the counter, showing the back of the t-shirt.)
I stayed at Tonys that night, and to change the outfit for Wednesday, I switched to an Only NY/Millerain bucket hat in Gold. I met Bubi at Little Skips and we worked all morning long. Afterwards, he went to pick up Rocco, a sweet little dog he walks, and we then headed towards the M at Myrtle. We said our "'til tomorrows" and I went to meet Scooter and GazeLLe Paulo at the Chelsea Hotel to see the Blondie Exhibit currently on display. It is well worth seeing, as they have a plethora of vintage concert tees and photos on display, spanning the entire career of the seminal new wave outfit. GazeLLe took a picture of me under Scooter’s t-shirt, which is displayed on the wall.
After, Scooter and I went to the Salvation Army and I found some lovely children’s books, one of them called “Music and Dancing,” which shows Jimi on the cover. Scooter accompanied me to the F train; he headed on to the paint in the studio and I to Figleaf for yoga.
