I'm p sure that was a sign of politeness in the original books too bc I used to do that at work all the time except I guess it's not a common gesture where I'm from so everyone thought I was fucking crazy

Also I worked as a cashier and I’d do it to every costumer so my neck always hurt at the end of my shift warrior cats ruined my life
