Reblogging: Contemplating an article... What are your opinions?
I’ve got a question for all my fellow Tumblr pagans before I write this article that’s popped up in my head. Please be honest if you have any opinion at all. Speculation is welcome, as are theories, guesses, and further questions. I’ll even take comments that contradict my theories!
The working title for this post is “Vocal Pagans vs. Vocal Christians - An Examination of Response.” I’ve noticed that, personally and with some of my Pagan friends that we’ll cringe whenever we hear talk about religon, especially Christianity, though all of the Abrahmic religions seem to evoke a similar response. It’s hard for us not to roll our eyes or get irritated about Christians constantly attibuting things to their God or telling us that we “need Jesus.” But when it comes to anything Pagan, we dive right in. Talking about messages from our Patrons or last night’s Tarot spread’s confusing message, or even just listening to Pagan music isn’t out of the ordinary and works into our everyday conversation easily.
And I wonder why? What is the trigger for our responses? What are we thinking? Why do we shy from talking about our countries’ most common religions and get so aggravated when it’s brought up? What’s different about Paganism?
I’m looking for well-thought-out responses, guesses, or questions that connect with this one.
If you can’t type your response into a reply or into my Ask box because it’s too long, feel free to email me at [email protected] with your answer and concerns. This article will feature both here on Tumblr and on my Yola blog at nightwitch.yolasite.com and I hope to see you there!
