He thought those birds looked unusually big, now that one was actually heading towards them, he understood why. They weren't birds.
They were d r a g o n s.
Hook is not an easily startled man so long as clocks & animals trying to eat him are not involved, why he could hold his own with a man who weighed twice what he did, but he knew perfectly well not to underestimate a dragon. Mostly because fire on a wooden ship with flammable sails was not good at all & admittedly, he may be rather concerned.
