I find it super interesting that a lot of older shawols dislike DCM! I've been a shawol since lucifer came out, but fell away from kpop for a while in 2019ish, and only came back in full force towards the end of 2021 (a friend showed me christmas evel by skz, and I pretty much blacked out and woke up months later covered in skz merch like 'uuuuh') as a result, I saw everything for dcm out of order - I saw the mv first, heard the album and saw the teasers/concept stuff way later.... and I super love the song? like its one of my firm favs? 😂 I loved that at a time where some other 2nd and 3rd bands were doing slightly nostalgic or maybe wistful songs, shinee was out here doing a song with a very 4th sound like 'oh you thought maybe we'd fade out? no we can do a song that's utterly not us but still make it sound good, we're out here at studio choom singing live just because, we've got the visuals, the dance, the vocals, the heart and the charisma' like I hope for the next album the main song does have a more shinee feel, but I love DCM for the power it feels like it has. (also it makes a really good ringtone for phonecall hating millenials like myself lmao)

yeah, i can see how seeing the teasers last can change hiw you view dcm - but no, i agree with you in regards to how shinee approached dcm.

you're right, they could have easily done something more lowkey or 'shinee-like' but no, they didn't do that, and instead chosento stand out during a time when 2nd gen groups were few and far between, after being away from the industry for 2 and a half years.

that's an achievement in itself.

like i've said in prev anons - i applause shinee for what they did with dcm, even if the songs not for me.

good luck for interview!!! for shakey hands I always give them an over the top shake before hand, and during the interview sit with them interlaced on my knees because you can like... flex your fingers every now and again and make it look naturalish, while also looking attentive. (luck luck luck!!!)

Hiya! just wanted to give u a wave from a couple counties left of london and a big thanks. I stumbled on your blog this morning (legit not sure how, i dont look at kpop on tumblr thats what my heavily biased explore page on insta is for) and ended up in a deep dive in your tags experiencing the symphony of emotions that only Shinee can produced.

I also learnt So Much and saw so many new member interactions and beautiful interactions - which I'd missed entirely despite being a shawol since 2010 as I only really watched mv's and some performances, and never interacted with fans/fandom (until more recently) as I was uh... busy with jpop idol group drama tbh.

also my dash has improved tenfold with all the beautiful gasoline Key gifs, truely I chose the best possible day to start following you. (double triple thanks with thanks sprinkled on top)

woah, how far back in the tags did you go? every now & then i see people liking a bunch of my posts from like 2010 which throws me.

sometimes i have a look back at my really old posts and they're super cringe. but i have had this blog since i was about 17, so i let the cringe slide. i was a kpop fan in the 2010's of course i was cringe......i still am tbh.

but yeah! no need to thank me! i just stay posting shit about these five men i don't know, and have tried to keep a coherent archive of it over the past 12 years of having this blog...

Makoharu 3 and 12 (or combine them?)

Haru wrinkled his nose, raising his chin, like a kitten about to sneeze. He held the spatula in his hand aloft. “Smoke.”“It's me. I just came home from a shift,” Makoto pointed out, as if it was necessary, with him sat at the entrance, easing off his work boots. He barely had the energy to untie the laces. His limbs felt rusted and heavy, and he wondered if he pushed his face into the dinner plate, then the food would somehow find its way down into his stomach.Haru gave him a disapproving slant of the eyes. “Don't you shower before you come home?”Makoto sat on the floor a little longer, flexing his toes, having to gear himself up for the arduous journey from the front door to the kitchen stools. “I did-” his voice went into a groan as he heaved himself up, “-but sometimes it lingers a bit.” As he sat, he used part of his small reserve of energy to reach across and take Haru's free hand in his, skimming his thumb over the rise and fall of Haru's knuckles. He smiled at the sensation, it amused him – in his tired state – how it reminded him of waves.“You should shower again,” Haru muttered. Makoto had cushioned his face against his arm, but he heard the scrape and sizzle as Haru flipped the fish in the pan. “I don't want the bed smelling of smoke.”“You work in a kitchen, Haru-chan, you're around a fair share of smoke,” Makoto murmured, remembering evenings where Haru's skin had smelled like grease. But he didn't have it in him to bicker so he quickly added: “But I will. After dinner.”Haru might have said something else, but it was too soft to catch, and Makoto didn't bother to ask.-Makoto kept his word, and Haru was quietly pleased when he came to bed warm, smelling of coconut, the base of his hair damp from where the hair-dryer had missed it. Makoto collapsed into bed so heavily that Haru felt himself bounce, and he had to yank Makoto's left leg under the covers as he was threatening to doze off instantly.There was a little slither of guilt in Haru's stomach at making Makoto shower again when he was so exhausted, but he realized it was worth it when Makoto sleepily pulled him into an embrace, squashing his face against Haru's neck. No scent of grease fires, wood smoke, gas.He reached out with the arm that wasn't locked around Makoto, switching off the lamp and plunging the room into darkness. Makoto always whispered a soft goodnight, see you in the morning like it was a promise he was keeping. But tonight he didn't, so Haru knew he must be out already.“Sorry for being selfish,” Haru whispered, “I don't like smelling smoke on you. I don't like going to sleep picturing you in a building that's about to come down. I do that anyway.” He swallowed, instantly feeling silly for saying it aloud. But Makoto didn't move, or make any noise to indicate he had heard, so Haru let out a soft breath and closed his eyes.-Oddly enough, after that day, the smell of smoke no longer followed Makoto home.

Makoto + morning and night-time routine

(Makoharu style)Morning: Makoto’s good at getting up in the morning but he’s not actually much of a morning person. He always has those few minutes where he has to mentally kick himself to get up. If Haru’s there, it’s easier, because Haru usually gets up first, and Makoto doesn’t like being left alone in bed (if both of them have the day off, he’ll spend a little longer in bed snuggling or fooling around with Haru). Now that he’s in college the wake-up time doesn’t have to be so rigid, since sometimes he doesn’t have classes ‘til late, but he’s used to getting up early for school, and he’s worried he might end up with a bad sleeping pattern if he starts sleeping in. Also, he has to drag Haru out of the bath.

He does his grooming/dressing before breakfast in case he has to skip it, and he doesn’t like having overnight breath while he’s eating. He’ll brush his teeth and shave at the sink while Haru soaks, so he can enjoy his company since neither of them have time or energy to talk much in the morning (Makoto doesn’t fully wake up until he gets fresh air). Then he’ll usually encourage Haru to get out of the bath before going to get dressed. Makoto gets ready really quickly, because Ren and Ran would often try to play with him when he was getting ready for school, so he worked it out that he could spend some time with them before school and they wouldn’t slow him down. Sometimes he forgets he doesn’t live with them anymore.  He’ll put a morning TV show on for background noise, slot in a bit of breakfast and cuddle Haru from behind a bit while he cooks his fish, and will end up having about three goodbye kisses before he can make himself leave. For a while, he’d pick up a newspaper on the way to class, trying to make a habit of reading the news that way as a gesture of moving into adulthood, since it’s what his dad did in the morning. But eventually he dropped it and stuck to Internet/phone.Night-time: Makoto likes a nice relaxing bath in the evening, after his post-jog shower (he prefers jogging in the evening to the morning) even more so when Haru gets in with him. Since Haru isn’t the type to talk at length about his day, it’s a good place for them both to unwind in each other’s company, and because Haru’s at ease in the water then Makoto can usually get him to talk a bit.Makoto usually does some college work after he’s had a bath, because it’s cleared his head a bit and relaxed him. He’ll take it wherever Haru is so he can have company while he works. It’s not just that he loves Haru’s company in particular (he does) but after leaving such a busy household he doesn’t like being on his own in the flat very much, and Haru isn’t going to distract him from his work. Then he’ll check his emails, and sit in touching distance of Haru - if not actually cuddled up to him - and just chill for a bit, enjoying the contact.Unless he and Haru have spontaneous sexual antics (as opposed to actually planning an “early night”), he’ll usually go round the flat quickly, tidying up, before brushing his teeth (in the winter he’ll often have to do some skin care on his face, because it gets dried out). Sometimes he’ll sit up in bed for a while reading about competitive swimming or teaching swimming. He likes to read something that makes him feel positive before bed, but he won’t stay up longer than 40 minutes. He’ll put it away, turn out the light, kiss Haru and go to sleep.
