Become an Intern for the Blue Moose
Are you passionate for music, concerts, social media, design and Blue Moose? Join our team! We are looking for interns this Fall for graphic design, booking/events, and social media.
If interested please come by the venue, open at 4pm every day and drop off your resume and cover letter. Or you can email us at [email protected]. All resumes must be received by September 8th!
So we promised secrets would be revealed right? Here is our first piece of juicy gossip. The bra collecting on the Moose's antlers began at this All Time Low concert on October 30, 2011. Apparently girls loved them so much they just had to give them their bras to show it. Were you there? Did you give them your bra?
Curfew for entertainment venues has been lifted
NOTE: As you read the below statement from the Iowa City City Council meeting from February 19th, 2013 picture Alleluiah bells and a choir of angels singing in celebration. THE BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED.
ENTERTAINMENT VENUE AMENDMENTS - ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 4, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, CHAPTER 5, PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS, SECTION 8, PERSONS UNDER THE LEGAL AGE IN LICENSED OR PERMITTED ESTABLISHMENTS, SUBSECTION B, TO MODIFY THE TIPS TRAINING TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW STATE I-PACT PROGRAM; AND TITLE 4, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, CHAPTER 5, PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS, SECTION 8, PERSONS UNDER THE LEGAL AGE IN LICENSED OR PERMITTED ESTABLISHMENTS, SUBSECTION C TO ALLOW THOSE NINETEEN YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO REMAIN IN ENTERTAINMENT VENUES UNTIL CLOSING. (PASS AND ADOPT)
Comment: These amendments will substitute the new State I-PACT program for TIPS training required for all bar staff in entertainment venues, and eliminate the midnight curfew for 19 and 20 year olds in entertainment venues on show nights. Our entertainment venues took part in the development of the present law, but the change in law regarding the I-PACT program makes a change appropriate, and the venues have found that their businesses are being hurt by the midnight curfew for their 19 and 20 year old patrons more than they expected. Because the venues have all shown good results in preventing underage drinking in their establishments, staff has faith that management will continue to do well without the curfew.
Action: Adopted, 7/0
Basically what you need to get out of this is that 19 and 20 year olds can stay in the entertainment venue until close on show nights. The same rules still apply for alcohol, 21+ to consume, but 19 and 20 are allowed to consume music all night so everyone wins right?
