Upon parting, the night had not treated Theo any kinder than it usually did. Nightmares plagued him, and cold sweats soaked his rented tavern sheets to ward off any significant amount of sleep. A usual burden, though in this particular instance he was not quite as bothered by it, for he at least had something to look forward to in the coming morning.
Despite the darkened skin that cradled his bloodshot eyes, Theo still wore a pleasant expression all the while as he readied his supplies for impending travel. His accompanying mabari’s claws clattered against polished wood as the Warden descended steps and onward towards his final destination of the marketplace. It was still early enough to see the plumes of his own breath in chilled, misty air and Theo had not yet seen the full peek of the sun’s light upon the mountains.
Still, he awaited his friend’s arrival with patience and took to leaning against a wooden post established in the town center. A few early-bird merchants had soon arrived to set up shop, which he greeted with a cordial nod and smile, but for the most part he simply resigned to waiting. It was not at all time wasted however, as he took to playing fetch with Toki, his hound, in the time allotted to them.
Usually, he was too busy with his duties to spend quality time with his companion, so it was honestly quite a pleasant reprieve to simply spend the morning in such a carefree way.
