Empath was actually my first thought but then I was like hm that would be kind of unusual for police recruitment WHICH I GUESS IS FITTING with "Dorian is outdated" analogy. but then I was like... if his power is to sense/manipulate people's emotions I feel like John would be even less trusting of him, or would second-guess his trust in him as being manipulated and it MADE ME SAD
plus I like the Dorian physically protecting John part so I DON'T KNOW *sobs* this is why I'm not a writer
