When I started reading Wings of Fire, I hadn't seen a single illustration, and I also started reading the book at night. I don't know how it happened, but for half the first book, I imagined Glory as a feathered dragon, not a scaly one.

So, yeah, no one expected it, but here it is, a feathered Glory.

now… is my favoritism showing? LOL i freaking love rainwings. per usual my original rainwing hc design from a few years ago is in the corner… i used glory’s colors for this redesign, so this can just be considered my glory headcanon design

before, i think i had given rainwings a vague butterfly-inspired design theme, with those big butterfly wing ears. now i’d rather confine butterfly themes to silkwings, so i’ve instead given rainwings a flower motif, inspired by the awesome way @/rotten-m3 draws glory. these flower frills can be smoothed or fluffed up at will and to emphasize emotions, show off, etc… the size and shape of them can also vary quite a bit from rainwing to rainwing. also of course, colors and markings are highly variable.

now, sadly i have taken away the sparkly scales that i originally gave the rainwings… sorry, but i can’t give rainwings ALL my favorite design traits hehe… instead, they are covered with smooth, soft, snake-like scales, with soft and velvety fur on their face and underbelly.

g is for glory and grandeur! sometimes a family is a cranky old woman, an abused teenager and her gay brother. isnt life beautiful part of my way old alphabet of fire project. my life collapsed in on itself when i started this project so i only ended up getting halfway through before. yknow. things, but i willlll finish this i mean it i swear... everything up to "h" is uploaded to my kofi for subscribers so far tho!!!!

i tried so hard to come up with a clever or interesting nightwing name for simon but it feels so goofy when his actual name is just. a real name. idk, a two word one with butcher? abysswalker? like something about the navigation aspect? listener goes hard since its the actual meaning of simon, but like i said in the notes, already a canon dragon. butcher is technically valid but i feel like the 1 word names are always positive or at least nonviolent... if anyone has thoughts i want them

also, couldnt fit it in my notes but. huge fan of the irony of simon being the tribe that has star patterns under their wings LMAO… i chose nightwing because of the limited resources and hell world, but thats so perfect

everything about grace being a rainwing was easy and perfect. no notes

i hate what wof did with scavengers in arc 3 HOWEVER… rocky is 100% a scavenger in this au. also hilariously ironic

bonus jerma rainwing from 2 years ago (WTF almost EXACTLY 2 years ago) because WOW how did i get that to look so much like him. i tried doing that with simon and grace but it was wayyyy harder this time??? maybe i’ve just looked at jerma longer. or i picked bad refs lol i really did just grab the first ones i could find this time
