Dior Couture Fall 2020 Collection "Saviour Fairy".

Maria Grazia Chiuri made a concept for this season inspired by Theatre de la Mode from 1945, when French designers after the devastation of World War II, facing shortage in supply of materials made miniature sized manikins. Regardless of their size miniature dresses were made with such carefull details. Doll sized purses were even fillied with miniature wallets and compact powders.

Exhibition of 60 Parisian Cotourist, presented at Louvre, become such a hit. Adorable miniature designs traveled the world rising funds for french souliers survivors of war.

Behind the scenes shots from newest Dior Collection show the process of making miniature looks. Each item is extraordinary detailed , some took up to 250 hours to make!!

There's no coincidence between parallels of two crisis. In post war 1945, designers faced lots of logistics problems like shortage of materials, shipping problems...and poverty. Lots of potential clients either experienced great losses or wanted to hold on to their money. After horrors of war why spend on luxurious costume made dresses, right? Unless they look like dolls and it is for good cause. And that's how clever Parisian Cotourist survived.

Nowadays designers have no trouble accessing finest materials, they'll ship it to where ever you want, they can even work from home and have Zoom meetings. The problem is how to get costumers to spend their fortune on dresses they possibly won't get to wear in this age of uncertaincy? Unless they are doll sized dresses presented in the world of fairies, that makes everything alright.
