Here’s a tiny, tiny preview of my fic for the @blueseyzine. I had a blast working on this ♡ (Everyone’s contributions are stunning, so check it out!)
“Co-pen-ha-gen,” Blue read tentatively from her spot on the floor as Gansey spread out one of the many maps he had brought with him to Henrietta. Every time his parents went abroad on business, Gansey had explained to Blue last summer, they came home with a colorful addition to his cherished map collection. I’d love to see your collection, Blue had said, her face alight with excitement, and so he had promised to show it to her the following year. This was a first for him. Gansey had never ever shown it to anyone before.
“Copenhagen!” Gansey echoed brightly, going around the map to sit down next to Blue. She was now mouthing the names of some of the streets and trying to figure out how to pronounce them, her brow furrowed in concentration, and the sight brought a wide smile to Gansey’s face. He had done that as well the night he had been given the map — he had turned his nightlight on, sat cross-legged on his bed and avidly navigated the city until sleep had claimed him.
For a good few minutes, Gansey did not say a word; he fidgeted with a leaf the wind had carried to their tree house, stealing glances at Blue while she carefully traced line after line after line on the map. Gothersgade, Bredgade, Amaliegade. She kept going and going, and it was not until her imagination appeared to grow tired of walking that Gansey added, “It’s a European city. The capital of Denmark, actually! Mom was there in January.”
