Blythe Danner Defends Her Daughter Gwyneth Paltrow
Blythe Danner was on Today to talk about her first starring role in the new film I’ll See You In My Dreams, but as these things go, she was questioned about what seems to be a never-ending fountain of hatred for her daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow.
Paltrow has seen a lot of disgust thrown her way. People mocked her inability to follow up on her food stamp challenge. People rolled their eyes when Gwyneth claimed she was close to the common woman. And, people lost their minds when it seemed like she was suggesting she, a millionaire actress, had it tougher than moms who work 9-5 jobs.
Danner defended Paltrow, saying, “I know that she’s the most extraordinary girl who can do everything. Incredible mother! She’s raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for my husband’s oral cancer foundation—things she doesn’t talk about a lot. She’s becoming a great environmentalist. I’m so proud of her.”
The actress also added, “I think she’s so accomplished that people get kind of intimidated by it.”
