I agree. Then again thoughts are free and they keep us sane, keep us balanced. Thoughts are often a matter of the moment, if it's a heated one, they end up exaggerated. There's a protection mechanism that keeps us from saying things we would regret later on. But if we had no chance but taking total control, people would indeed be more understanding and at the same time less dissembling.
