I am honoured to represent the BNI Foundation and travel the world helping worthy causes. Last week I introduced the FWZ in Wiesbaden to the German foundation program. The FWZ, represented in this picture by Heidi Grau-Easthill, brings together volunteers to help refugees integrate in every level of society. Last year my chapter “Lilie” donated 1000 Euros to one of their German classes for refugees, the money was used for books and utensils and I assisted the classes ran by Ulla Herbst for a while. Last week Frederik Malsy und Nicolai Lennartz donated 2.500 Euros in the name of BNI region Wiesbaden and the many members who participated. Seventeen-year-old Hussein Al-Shlash who fled from Aleppo to Germany in 2015, came to the event and demonstrated his fluent German skills, which he learned thanks to the classes we supported. Heidi Grau-Easthill and Hussein were extremely thankful. "Without the support of many people like you I would never have learned German so fast. I am extremely thankful to you all“, said Hussein Al-Shlash. The hosts of the evening Michael Lehner and Ray Huarez of „Motorvillage Rhein-Main“ also had a surprise for Hussein. They organised a tombola, giving away a free weekend with a brand new car. This raised another 326 Euros, which BNI raised to 500, so all in all we were able to donate 3.000 Euros. I am so glad to be part of this. Speaking the same language is the only way we will break down walls in our society. #education #educationfirst #educationiskey #refugeeswelcome #buildbridgesnotwalls #buildbridgesnotwalls #nonprofit #integration #socialcause #bni #bnifoundation
