Spring has once more sprung in what was once New York City, planting has started on The Farm, the first babies are being born in the Livestock Zoo, Green is spreading across Central Park, the pond has thawed, and snow has given way to warm sunny breezes and periodically rainy days.
The new Council has been voted in, and it truly feels like The Township has found it's footing in the middle of a wasteland. The mood is high all around, excitement brewing for the upcoming nuptials of Aggie Turner and Eric Sanders.
The Morning of April 20th without warning, all hot water is cut off to the third floor and below, including Rosie's Diner. A water boil advisory is pasted up along the atrium without any real pomp or explanation along with new assignments and plans:
Atrium level wall sconces will be turned off at 10pm to conserve power. (Pease remember there are no overhead lights, only wall sconces and emergency lights over stairwell doors. Lamps and various light sources are plugged into working outlets throughout the area.)
@viesanders, and @insainted (Mal) have been put in charge of construction to turn the common room into two separate areas. Butcher (npc) is around as a pair of extra hands and guard. The tower will be converted into a tailor for @odiedotdottieodette to maintain and design needed items. Everyone is free to trade/barter with It for It's labor but any tasks needed from Sada's crew are It's top priority.
The remaining area in the Common Room is to be turned into a library. The Good's Store will be cleared of all it's books and shelving to be used for this, as well as the libraries of uninhabited apartments, with a focus on Sub-Penthouse 11B.
The tower off the media room will be converted from storage into the daycare for the children, the responsibilities for this will fall to @birdiedrake and @hannahxinterrupted.
@ziggyturner, @beauclary, and @aggieturner's have an additional task of hanging laundry lines to dry clothes on the roof for the upper residents.
All Penthouse Laundry duties will fall to the shoulders of @pxtitxrosx until she gets too heavily pregnant.
Laundry for those who live above the third floor is the responsibility of @w0manstand1ng and @sarahshercohen. There are clotheslines throughout the Atrium to hang laundry out to dry.
Laundry for residents of the third floor is their own responsibility but there are extra clotheslines strung across the pillars in the atrium for general use.
@survivalxofxthexfittest(Oscar), @rioreeve, @lindsohalloran, and @santiagodiazmunoz are tasked with coordinating runs for vials and supplies with orders to take everything. James, the penthouse chef, gets first look at all food stuffs that come in.
@judahfisher and @jonahfisher will be assigned to the parking garage to reinforce vehicles there for future longer distance runs using Nik's car as a template to build off of.
@insainted (Gray) Is on tower defense, re-enforcing the streets around the building.
The Games tables in the Games room have been moved out to the Atrium to create a public square type space with the pool table in the very middle. The Games room is locked up in preparation to be converted into more useful spaces.
The Media room Theater screen and projector has been moved to the Ballroom to be set up for the guards and higher floor residents.
All exess guns and ammunition have been moved to Sada's Loft which is heavily locked down as armory. Only she and Jeremiah have the keys.
Please Familiarize yourselves with the new Atrium lay out and updated FAQ (Please disregard the Map as it needs to be updated still to current lore). If you have any further questions, or suggestions to be added to the page, please let us know! Happy Dictatorshipping, guys and gals!
Having followed the fleeing Chompermobile on it's desperate track back to The Wexley with it's cargo of beach survivors, a large portion of the massive horde now absolutely choking the southern tip of Manhattan has made it's way back toward the center of the city.
Unsure of where the vehicle that had outran them had gone to, the horde had instead funnelled into the streets, their meandering pace leaving their surrounding of The Wexley a slow thing at first. But, with windows open and the sounds of life filling the air above their heads, their instincts know they're close.
Within a week of the return of the survivors, the streets around The Wexley, and even the alley that's their only entrance and exit, are absolutely crowded with nearly shoulder to shoulder chompers. The smell is vile, reaching up to to the sixth floor before getting any better at all. The sounds of them is worse, forcing the lower residents to close their windows.
Entering or exiting the building is impossible, and all residents have now found themselves imprisoned in The Wexley.
The plot drop will be in effect until further notice. No runs or exiting the building will be allowed or advised as even opening the door is sure to have the building flooded with chompers.
Concern building when noticing untouched food trays in front of their door, Charlie Rose made her way inside the suite shared by the Captain and Chef only to find it totally empty. It's unsure when exactly they left the building but it looks like they've been gone at least a day or two.
Those from the boat didn't seem to have any answers. Though they'd known the two men longer than anyone else here, their motives were still a mystery...
At least, that's what it seemed until a guilty conscious got the better of her and Amy Gao attempted to tell Emily Lockmoore what she knew. With the language barrier preventing communication in any meaningful way, whatever information Amy has is still unknown to the others.
If any characters are proficient in Mandarin they may attempt to speak with Amy and find out what she knows.
Sher will be let into the building by @ziggyturner and Maddie will be let in by @rosiesdiner. Feel free to plot together for how/what happens to facilitate this. Entrance threads will not be subject to the event pause, but please remember to tag your threads with #entrance.
Don't forget to tag your open starters dated two days after arrival to account for quarantine!
After leaving the Wexley in search of his sister two weeks ago, Roman Drake eventually reunited with her and the pair ventured to one of the city's previously guarded check-points in the North. Investigating further the siblings discovered that no one was guarding the check-point from the outside either. They found abandoned cars and empty houses, likely ordered to evacuate sometime near the beginning of the outbreak. Driven by a need to understand what was happening in the outside world the pair continued forward through the Bronx, Yonkers, New Heaven.
What they saw was reminiscent of the city they'd left behind, signs of life few and far between. The dead likely had little interest in the area with the living having pushed further inland.
Now outside of the signals that had been preventing communication with the outside world Roman and Birdie managed to contact their family and gather some information.
The United States has fallen.
What is left of the government and military have taken refuge and control in a vast swatch of The American Rocky mountains, last reported to be taking in immune survivors.
After the initial outbreak in New York City, pockets of outbreaks started to break out all over the country within the following hours and days.
Planes landing or crashing full of fresh chompers, Greyhound buses spilling their new bite hungry innards into the country side, etc.
Those that had escaped New York unwittingly carried with them a delayed response and the virus actively infectious in their saliva, spreading it outwards from the city like spittle.
Canada was last rumoured to be fairing better due to it's sparsely populated nature. Mexico had been doing it's best to hold out at the borders, and there were small town pockets all over the country rumoured to be holding out aided by their desolate locations.
Government updates stopped altogether nationwide on January 1st, 2024 leaving only local wavelengths open.
Rumour has it the Canadians are taking in immune refugees but this is unconfirmed and there are conflicting reports that the Canadian border patrol is shooting any and everyone on sight that even gets close.
They also learned that Roman's ex wife and daughter were stuck on the coast, floating aimlessly in the ocean after the ship they'd taken from Martha's Vineyard had run out of gas. Any attempt to dock was a death sentence as there was a band of raiders waiting to strip them of the supplies they still carried, sadly, none of which were food.
Roman and Birdie were able to coordinate with a small group of survivors and get them to shore in a raft, while the boat continued to sit in the ocean with its treasure of supplies and a handful of survivors. Birdie was tasked with taking the survivors from the raft back to the Wexley and informing them of the situation. Roman's hoping someone will be up to the task and willing to deal with the raiders. He's remained near the coast preparing for what may come.
This event will begin on Thursday 10/10/24.
Please note in the replies which, if any, of your characters are interested in assisting the survivors/supplies back to the Wexley and dealing with the raiders. We will group them and do discord threads as per the previous supply run event.
New neighbors will be joining us in the Wexley. Several NPCs from the ship will be listed on the directory; suites who belonged to characters who have passed or gone missing will be cleaned out and reused (unless asked not to).
NPC suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! Do you think one of them is a world renowned neurosurgeon? Sure, that could be helpful! Maybe one of them is a bee keeper and will be providing us with fresh honey.
Characters who remain at the Wexley will be dealing with their own surprise; something nasty has found its way into the building through the destroyed lobby, lured in by the still buried dead bodies decomposing there.
Please pause all non-event threads and feel free to commence with event ones. Don't forget to refer to your outlines, date and time your threads as well as in the tags of every reply for continuity purposes. Please also tag all posts with #S2E01. Have fun and get as messy as you'd like!
Injuries? We love 'em! Drama? Heck yes! The only thing you gotta toss our way is loss of limb, and death (Deaths are never turned away, we only need to be prepped for them.)
All those who remained at The Wexley, event threads must start with reference to Mr. Wexley's announcement and the opening of the elevator doors to capture your characters thoughts/reactions to everything, but after that go off!
Can't wait to see what sorts of shenanigans we all get up to!
The event will run until at least Oct 29th with the option to extend it longer.
Honestly, I appreciate each and every one of you guys so much. All our members past and present have helped to shape this group and it's lore into the thing of beauty it is today.
I love all of you so much, I'm so happy that we're still going strong today! ♥
As a birthday celebration, feel free to create gifts for the group/fellow members. Be it manips, musings, playlists, moodboards, memes, whatever you want. Let's fill the dash with beautiful things this week dedicated to our home here and the story we've built in it.
