Bo Jack, Fabled Feller [2RRGG] Legendary Planeswalker - Bo +2: Bo Jack, Fabled Feller deals 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker. -3: Destroy target land. Add three mana in any combination of colors that land could produce. -8: Create a legendary 10/10 blue Ox creature with hexproof and trample named Bell. [6]

Bo Jack is a Giant lumberjack from a plane called Ifth where the minuscule and the immense live in harmony. Common races call Ifth home as do giant versions of many other lifeforms. If giant wildlife were to be so common on other planes, it would devastate societies, but the giants of Ifth act as groundkeepers of the plane, protecting the smaller races from the giant wildlife and also maintaining what would be called natural events on other planes such as the weather and other geological phenomena. 

Bo Jack is a denizen of the mighty redwood forests of the Ifth calling a log cabin he built there home. With his flaming axe, Bo Jack is in charge of logging for the plane, as well as creating forest fires when needed. He is also a very fierce guardian of the people against the giant wildlife of the plane, not only with the help of his axe, but his faithful companion Bell, a giant water buffalo who can literally spray water when any forest fires get out of control. In his spare time, he enjoys building homes and furniture for people (though for him, it’s more like whittling) and traveling the planes.

As a giant, I felt I had to show that in Bo Jack’s mechanics somehow, so I started with big mana cost and big starting loyalty. Of course, I didn’t want this card to be too expensive, so I went with a mana cost that was both strict and on the higher end of a curve without being too expensive.

+2: He has a flaming axe, so I went with a simple Lava Axe for this ability, though it would be too strong if it could hit players so I made it more useful for clearing out your opponent’s board.

-3: I had to reference Orcish Lumberjack somewhere in the card right? However, having the normal Orcish Lumberjack ability as an ability is rather weak and useless for a 6-mana, giant planeswalker, so I let him destroy any land he wants. I also thought it would be more in flavor if that land only gave you mana it could produce. Kinda like cracking open a beer or something.

-10: If it isn’t obvious, Bo Jack is based off Paul Bunyan, and Paul has a very large blue Ox named Babe. I know it’s weird that an Ox is blue in Magic terms, but I count it as trinket text. Also, blue can have huge creatures with trample and hexproof, and green can make creatures with those stats.

Bo Jack Horseman by Limit_IV

This year was a lot of Bo Jack Horseman. So I am going as Princess Carolyn for Halloween. Ryan’s Bo Jack costume was easy – a horse head mask and ugly sweater. Mine is much more complicated.

I gave myself one hour in my local thrift store to find the cardigan, dress and shoes. Success!

Cardigan: $12.99 – I normally don’t pay that much for a thrifted cardigan, but it is a really cool yellow and silk.

Shoes: $12.99 – There were three red shoes that were in my size. I was really tempted to buy the super high heels but Ryan would make fun of me all night. He thinks it’s stupid when I wear shoes I can’t walk in.

Dress: $9.99 – I couldn’t find a simple blue dress. The closest was green and it has a collar, but it was in my size. I have a fish stamp my aunt made me for a quilt I never finished. I free-handed the pattern. It’ more like a school of fish this way!

With the new job, I don’t have a lot of time. Each fish takes about 5 minutes. There are 50 of them. I am looking at 4-5 hours of fishing…So I created a little travel kit so I could fish on the bus! I only have 35 more to go!
