Next, a group of girls got back from a trip to Walmart. Whenever they return to the building, they need to sign in. J, a new student, started signing L in, and said something to her. Then, L said something back. J gasped, dropped the pen, and stepped back, and L signed herself in. "J, did you just tell L you were signing her in, but then J told you you're not allowed to do that?" I asked.
"That's exactly what she said!" J exclaimed. "Are you learning Chinese?"
"No, but I speak fluent body language."
I don't think they knew what body language meant. Maybe they still think I speak Chinese.
