I really didn't come sniffing out for a fight. I happened to be following you still and that post was right smack dab on the page. I didn't go fishing. It addressed me "you, you, you." So I addressed it. I don't think this is worthy of a knock down, drag out argument. But seriously, feel free to come to inbox and discuss anything with me privately, if you choose to. I don't take kindly to inadvertently stumbling across some super aggressive shit that singles me out, but conveniently ignores me.
Okay, so I get why you would’ve felt defensive at seeing that post, seeing as yes, it was aggressive, because this shit really, really upsets me. I make tag ranty posts when I get upset about things I don’t wanna get directly involved with for any number of reasons. As far as what upset me about your original post (and others like it I’ve seen) it’s just really patently false and hurtful to continue with this whole “speakeasy used to be so different and more welcoming where is old speakeasy” thing. It actively shuts out new members of this fandom, and makes older members (myself included) who actually felt very differently about the environment of old speakeasy feel like our experiences in this fandom were and are invalid. I don’t see any examples of this current environment of toxicity you’re talking about, apart from some people throwing around their longevity in this fandom like it’s a badge of honor and constantly waxing nostalgic about “the old days” I really don’t see how anyone can not get how alienating that would be for newer fans to see? If there’s something I don’t know about that’s happening you can let me know, but considering that I try to stay pretty involved in this fandom I can’t imagine I’ve missed a whole Thing. Also I don’t know why you think it’s okay to essentially shame people in this fandom for liking the characters they like. It seems completely in opposition to your claim that this fandom used to be so much more welcoming.
