It was on this day in 1969 that Michigan buried Ohio State, 24-12. The 1969 B*ckeyes were considered “the greatest team ever assembled”, and Michigan, under first-year head coach Glenn Edward “Bo” Schembechler, upset the # 1 ranked and defending National Champs at Michigan Stadium, thus setting the spark for the rivalry for years to come.
(28 years later on this day, Charles Woodson capped off a Heisman-winning performance against these B*cks, capped off with a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown in a 20-14 win over the B*ckeyes in the same stadium. Michigan would go on to win their first National Championship since 1948 that year.)
