Why can’t I enjoy a video game as entertainment?
I shit no one not, it turns out that I didn’t know that the game We Happy Few was “exposing the injustice of being a mom”. What?! If you bothered to play the fucking game, you’d know of this:
1. The Breeder wars: at some point in Wellington Wells history, children were sent away on the trains to Germany. Despite this, there were people who decided to have children again, there were those who were against this. During this time period, children were either killed (because they reminded the adults of what they did with the other children) or sent away to make sure nothing happened to them. So of course Sally has to keep Gwen a secret because the baby can either being killed by the citizens of Wellington Wells or taken by Joy Doctors to be experimented on!
2. Joy: Joy is a pill you take to ensure survival in Wellington Wells. It enforces happiness regardless of you feeling sad, angry or whatever other emotion that isn’t happiness or Joy (hence “Happiness is a choice!”). If the you the play suffer from withdrawal/overdose, citizens will notice immediately and will have looks of concern at first, Bobbys will say “You might want to see a doctor sir/mame (mame in the case of Sally Boyle).” If you don’t leave their sight, they immediately become hostile and try to kill you (this is especially true about Joy Doctors, who smell you like a blood hound and say “someone hasn’t taken their joy!” before taking out a buzzsaw-like weapon to kill you!).
3. Dr. Verloc: Sally Boyle actually was once in love with the man, even if he was an asshole towards her. During the memory pregnancy, I’ve become convinced that when Sally knew about the pregnancy, she became afraid. Imagine what a guy like Verloc would do to a baby (Verloc is willing to test on people with the new Joy formula, imagine what the man would do to a baby!). She even states that he once told her to play naughty nurse, but after a while she got sick of his crap and left. She even says to him in a cutscene “You locked me out in the rain, to teach me a lesson!” I think Sally did something that enraged Verloc (possibly the pregnancy) that he felt the best course of action was to lock her out in the pouring rain. She was lucky to have the three witch sisters to help her out with Gwen!
I hate it when people assume dumb shit like this and not pick up the controller and play the game itself! We Happy Few is an awesome game and I highly recommend anyone play it! The characters are awesome, you can love or hate them and the story is awesome, plus it has amazing DLC content!

We Happy Few - Act ll Connect the Dots: Haworth Labs: Sally Boyle Talks ...
This is the scene I mentioned in my last post. I honestly wanted (and still do) smack Verloc for what he did to Sally!
The perfect Cyanide and Happiness short that summarizes the Bobbys XD
Tfw you’re in too many fandoms and all the characters have the same name so you have to stop and check the tags to figure out who that person is talking about
