The voice - deep, soft and, oh, sad - pulls Bucky back to his actual job behind the counter of this shitty old bodega which, actually, he kinda loves. He looks up, then regrets it immediately, because Biceps McShoulders has ocean-blue eyes that Bucky could stare into for a creepy-stalker length amount of time. The guy’s beautiful.
In which a sad Steve Rogers walks into Bucky's bodega.

Although, he thinks, as he looks around at his tiny little empire, he’s doing better at the issues, thanks to the VA and his old crew and his horrible therapist who does probably do him some good. Bucky’s doing so good, in fact, that he feels somewhat paternal towards the handsome stranger with the lost look in his eyes (who, let’s be honest, Bucky’s projecting a whole lot upon; dude’s probably just having a crappy week and here’s Bucky deciding he’s a vet who needs rescuing).
“So no Alpine today?” The guy has come up to the counter while Bucky was wool-gathering.
