I just stumbled onto your blog and wanted to share how magical and expressive your art is. Thank you! I was curious about the medium you use and what type of inks you use. It's beautiful because of the washes of color and the finer detail you can achieve. And it looks like you also use these inks on black paper? I use mandalas as a tool for integration after my group Holotropic Breathwork sessions and I'm always looking for new mediums that allow one to express the ineffable onto paper.
Hello! Thank you for your kind words about my art.
I use colored drawing ink and sometimes india ink on 300 g7m2 (140 lbs) watercolor paper. Usually I start any painting by just getting paper wet with water then applying ink which creates color washes. After the ink has dried I add finer details using gel ink pens. If you are curious about the technicalities of that process feel free to check out my youtube channel, I got bunch of videos demonstrating it (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Sea68juRPHMUijIAp1r6g/videos) . If you are more interested in philosophy behind the process I wrote a short post about it here: https://www.asjaboros.net/journal/2018/6/7/to-harmonize
Oh, and I never use black paper, I just cover it with at least two coats of black ink.
I’ve never heard of Holotropic Breathwork but I can relate with challenges of expressing the ineffable via painting and drawing :) I hope you find the medium that best suits your needs.
