i want to like the show for mireille alone but it's really not good. i'd rather rewatch the killing for the 10th time.

it’s really terrible. the leads are good actors but the material is terrible. in the original premise alice was a ‘gutsy forensic accountant’ and i think prefer that. the show is too glamorous and it’s trying too hard to be clever. it’s not sure whether it wants to be the thomas crown affair or ocean’s eleven. con plots like this are good for movies, but for a show? how do you maintain longevity? you can’t. 

when you say ‘private investigator’ i dont picture this show. it’s too clean. too glamorous. maybe jessica jones spoiled me in that way. bc their business is confusing. do they work in insurance? security? art theft? murderer finders? apparently they also do witness protection? 

look, im willing to believe certain things but this is too much. private investigators dont have this much power. this show is a mess. and i havent even touched up ben\con artist\con family of it all.

and he was so happy to be out and to be with his parents and his new gf and whoever else. and it wasn’t like he was even a criminal to begin with but they made him out to be one and nothing he or anyone said was ever believed. even his former lawyer said he wasn’t smart enough to do something like that. he didn’t have a shot at all of being innocent. people didn’t even believe that he was innocent of the crime he didn’t commit despite being exonerated like wtf? everything was stacked against him but no one wants to really believe law enforcement would do anything wrong which we all know is a bunch of crap. ugh and the fact that the county wasn’t supposed to be involved in the investigation but they did practically everything it turns out???? WHAT??? it’s all so messed up. and that dumbass da… my god.

plus!!!!!!! the fact that steven IMMEDIATELY was like ‘if they find anything then it’s because they’re framing me’ and from DAY ONE he was a suspect. ugh. everything about this is so gross and heartbreaking.

there had to be something going on, right? nothing adds up. it’s such a shame that everyone was so hellbent on making steven out to be the killer (which i don’t believe is the truth) and they probably didn’t even investigate beyond that. or maybe they did and just didn’t care which i honestly wouldn’t put past those people. they wanted to put him away again no matter what it took.

plus there’s the fact that steven is not exactly a Criminal Mastermind, you know? i could buy some sort of attempting to cover up an accidental death bc he didn’t want to go back to jail type of thing -- considering his understandable distrust of the local law enforcement after getting sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE -- but i just can’t see him going and doing something like that when it would benefit him in no way and just. run the risk of him being caught and going back to jail. like you said, it just DOESN’T ADD UP.

yessss!!! i got a weird vibe from the brother and honestly thought there was going to be some weird turn of events where he turned out to be the murderer. it was all just so strange. clearly the county doesn’t feel the need to do things legally or ethically right but yet the victim’s family has all the faith in the world in them? it’s so fishy. god, the whole thing just made me so mad.

i just can’t comprehend being that involved and also that certain that it HAD to be steven???? honestly you could easily read it as him being involved with her death and working his damnedest to make sure he can put as much blame on someone other than him. 

plus the stuff with her voicemail was super sketchy and i don’t buy that he just listened to some messages when there weren’t enough retrieved to fill her entire inbox. maybe he was the one calling her, and he had to delete messages he left?
