mrs bennet wants mary to get married but then insists that she has to stay with her but won't let her re-enter london society so she can meet someone else? does that make sense to anyone?
i dont understand the point of mary's journey. or her place in the the family. i dont understand why no one is reacting the way they should react according to the original book counterparts.
lydia was caught in a scandal. the sisters all know that. its darcy that saves her fm that scandal by making wickham take responsibility. so i find it hard to believe that mary doesn't understand the weight of what mr. ryder is asking of her. which is that she run of with him to italy, not married. elizabeth pointing out that he's asking her to be his mistress--how is she the only one who understands that? mary saw what happened to lydia. elizabeth saw what happened to lydia. i dont understand how knowing what ryder's intentions are, why elizabeth didn't immediately kick him out of pemberley or tell darcy to kick him out of pemberley. this man is trying to ruin your sister's life.
and the continuous villianzing of mrs bennet by being so cruel to mary, thinking she rejected a proposal?? why not just tell mrs bennet the truth?? bc she should be shocked and on mary's side immediately. and dont get me started on how lydia's been written, as well as all the sisters being mean to mary for Plot purposes. there's no reason for lydia to be jealous or cruel to mary. (the side shit with charlotte too, like what??) (no but like who cares about her marriage to collins ??).
im not even gonna get into how uncompelling i find the love interests. but i will say the story feels very modern but not in captivating ways.
u telling me mary's two love interest options are guy who is engaged to friend she made in 5 min and guy who doesn't want a commitment? that's the best we could do ? are u sure? not even bridgerton pulled that.
i have one more episode but im gonna save it for tomorrow bc i love it so much. (lie).
bbc reheating kanthony bridgerton's s2 nachos
im gonna say something mean but i dont even like mary in this. i feel like she should be smarter about whats going on around her. and instead shes just bumbling around and we're supposed to find her awkwardness endearing. i do not.
five eps down. another five to go.
me after finishing an episode: i hate this show so bad
five eps down. another five to go.
mary broke ryder's dad insect in a jar thing but like, just sell lady catherine's portrait and then you're square right? idk. he's rich. im sure he can find another insect to put in jar jail.
caroline: you need to stop getting ur hopes up about ryder. know ur place loser bennet girl
mary: wtf??
2 seconds later
hayward: soo i notice ryder is really persistent in his interest in you and i could tell him stop doing that bc it might be bothering you
mary: ????????
actors in the background: that mary bennet girl? the GOVERNESS who has SISTERS that got mARRIED but she's NOT bc she's A LOSER
mary: okay that's a little too on the nose
so i guess caroline switched the name cards at the dining table and now mary has to sit next to old guy and another guy with whooping cough. mary could easily go grab some wine and then spill it on her and claim its bc she cant see. like. there's solutions to this.
no bc like, if jane and elizabeth married up, and lydia\wickham mishap was fixed then wouldn't this have elevated the other sisters? how is mary on the loser slope? like? and if the optometrist guy had shown interest in mary (and he did) why would mrs bennet even be that mean\upset about it if she was trying to marry off all her daughters? at the very least i think mrs bennet would have been like 'lets wait on this guy mary bc i gotta marry off jane first just give me a min mary'.
like...i dont understand this story. i really don't.
why is caroline bingley mary's bully? can someone explain? she's also an unmarried loser. what's her problem.
only a poor person would say this. dont believe him mary.
oh wait he has money. thats why hes saying that. bc he just doesnt care. okay.
only a poor person would say this. dont believe him mary.
i like how this show wanted me to be impressed with mary's hairy armpits and then later shows me her hairless legs. #feminism
hayward too into poetry for my liking and his concern for mary despite being engaged.....suspicious.
