To be fat and own taking up space is a radical act. When I say the word “fat” I mean a largeness that makes many if not most uncomfortable with ones presence. Sizeist constructs weigh heavy on engagement. Seeing @kittyvonquim last night was liberating. Watching someone with a body like mine perform such a common vulnerability and reclaim her space and her power in a way that was constructively uncomfortable and beautiful was life affirming. As a performer and artist she has granted so many fat Femmes permission to live fiercely and playfully in joy. Watching this performance felt like coming home to myself. Thank you Kitty. You are an absolute treasure.
