the basics:
when he focuses his attention or experiences strong emotion, adrian can create and manipulate sound waves. so far he has discovered that he can make things louder, quieter, mute them entirely, create new sounds, and at this point in time, shatter glass or vinyl with concentrated effort or an outporing of negative emotion.
limitations:
the sounds adrian can control don’t travel very far-- in new york city especially they tend to get swallowed up and don’t spread further than the average noise at the same volume. additionally, his ability to create new sound is limited to his imagination. some things, especially songs played from memory, rely on his knowledge of the nuance of sound. he’d be hard-pressed to mimic an unfamiliar voice since he doesn’t know how the person sounds.
skill level:
because sound manipulation is easy to experience the effects of, but relatively non-harmful, adrian’s power is pretty well harnessed. he was one of the first in his block and his family to discover he had an unusual ability, and put a lot of effort into understanding and controlling his ability even before he experienced what frustration could do. that being said, adrian has only had one real outburst where he couldn’t rein in his ability in time to prevent damage.
