Erdogan fires Bogazici rector he had appointed despite fierce opposition of faculty and students. Quite an extraordinary and rare capitulation. Students & faculty faced months of police pressure, detention, ill treatment as they protested him. Hope his successor will be better.
İnsanlar bahçelerinde ki çimleri biçmişler .Off , o çim kokusu yok mu.... İnsanı ister istemez derin bir huzura ,rahatlığa sokuyor .
Bakın her zaman da olmasa hep bir yerlerde yaşamı bulmaya çalışıyorum.
Şükrediyorum. Dua ediyorum .
I didn’t feel like drawing flowers yesterday while students in Turkey are getting arrested for protesting.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
There's an ongoing protest against the government in a Turkish university, Boğaziçi. It's one of the oldest universities in Turkey and one of the most significant ones if not the most. This protest started one month ago and we are still fighting. The government doesn't want to give LGBTQ+ community any kind of recognition, they think they have the right to interfere in our lives and control the university, which is not legitimate, and this is what we stand against here. THIS IS DICTATORSHIP. We, the students and the faculty members from all around the country, are trying to show the government that THEY DO NOT OWN US and WE HAVE A VOICE. The police, of course, uses unwarranted force towards the university students since they were ordered to do so. Even though all of this started because of a different administration matter, it is still going on and over 150 people have been arrested. I am asking you to share this so people would become more conscious about it. Also, Boğaziçi published a letter to the presidency and I want to share with you the translated version of it.
This is the revolution of students, please hear our voice. WE ARE NOT BOWING DOWN!
“Don’t mistake us for those who obey you unconditionally. You are not a sultan and we are not your subjects."
I am dropping the links of some resources that sums of the situation for the ones that are interested.

President’s appointment of political ally as university rector becomes catalyst for disillusioned youth to vent frustrations
Thanks to you all, please share and rt this so it would reach out to more people.
never stop hoping
people are shouting again
in my country
they are being kicked on the pavements
pavements that I walked on
eating simit with one hand
holding my father's hand with the other
leaving a trail of sesame behind
and giggles
young people are losing their hopes again
in my country
rage is bubbling
fists clenched
words stuck on throats
despair squeeze them, hard- so hard
like a secret
that is slowly killing you
but some things are different
other bodies are beaten now for instance
different news anchors don't talk about the elephant in the room
and police brutality on the street
other mothers are crying now
after their daughters
waiting behind bars
for a crime that is nothing
NOTHING
but caring and hoping

- it's been years since we sat down at the kitchen table
it's been years since we ate from the same pot
we are chewing words now
and spitting hate
do you remember
the neighbor's boy
we would play football together
and climbed on the same plum tree
i let you ride my bike once
and you gave me my first marble ball
but we forgot it all, didn't we
now you are wearing a crisp black uniform
and we became each other's enemy
but i remember how you cried one day
and i gave you simit
do you remember it
the neighbor's boy
