I have tons of scratches from cats on my front bumper and fenders of my miata. Is there an easy way to get these out? Also, my clear coat is peeling in a lot of places, is there any way to fix this?
I have the same problem with my cats and my own Miata. You should be able to level out the scratches by machine polishing (or even by hand if the damage is light and the paint is soft enough). The paint on first gen classic red Miatas is single stage (no clear coat). I’m not sure if yours has had paint work, but you should be fine on single stage or clear coated paint using a fine polish like Meguiar’s M205 or Ultimate Polish with a light to medium cut polishing pad. These polishes can be found in most auto parts stores. If you choose to polish by hand, I would use a hand applicator like an orange or white CCS foam hand pad.
Check out the guides on my page regarding polishing and detailing a 93 Miata for more info.
As for the peeling paint, there’s not much you can do for top coat/clear coat failure that won’t require intensive body work, but a quick fix is to fill the damaged area with a urethane clear using a brush.
