A call to @boksoonie from this.
There had been things he was seeing, but also, there had been things he was missing. He saw this woman. He saw that she had crafty eyes that were sharpened like his, but he lacked to see how well those eyes had pegged him. Funny right? He the expert of control had lacked to realize his loosening of grip. He had failed to see this. He had.
A coy smile came over his lips. He looked at her presently, and that had been the first time, maybe. That look faded as he pulled out two folded pieces of gold rimmed parchment from his inner coat pocket. Instead, his eyes went to their distant state, so far removed from all else.
“I’m a chaebol,” he told her as if he was stating something common like a family name. “If they didn’t train us in things like penmanship, wouldn’t that be odd?” he inquired from the woman his brow raised in just the right was to allude a lightheartedness in his question as his low tone stay ominous and firm. All the while, he had brought his hand back into his coat, a slender gold case being revealed. He opened it taking out a fountain pen before taking out the black ink.
He unfolded the parchment, and a soft sigh left his lips, almost matching hers, while a momentary upward glance looked to her met her eyes. “What if what goes on in my head isn’t worth reading?” he asked her another question, but he didn’t leave time for an answer. “If you left the city one day, I guess I would have to find you,” Donggil spoke the truest thing he’d ever said to her. The depths of that truth would dive deeper into him than she’d be allowed. She may never know, he thought as he dipped his pen in the jet colored liquid. Soon his pen was to paper.
Once he was finished, he capped his pen and handed her the calligraphed letter. He leaned back, but not in a slouch by any means, and stretched out his fingers. His eyes watched her.
