Yellow fieldcaps (Bolbitius titubans)

These delicate little mushrooms fruit on rotting hay or grass, or sometimes dung. They emerge as pretty, bright yellow little heads, and within the day will open up fully and lose their colour.

Always lovely to spot these bright fungi in the grass in the morning, before it dries and loses its brightness, disappearing in less than a day.

Always so sweet to see these when they’re young and bright yellow before they expand and quickly turn greyish
