Remake of a game called Bomb Fish
I’ve finished a HTML/JS remake of the only good game Jungletac’s actually made: Bomb Fish.
It’s a game for One Station on the “M3 Pocket MAX” “Vmax-1″ “50 in 1″ cart. This is a set of 50 NES-on-a-chip games most of which are entertaining for less than a second; yet I do enjoy this game. You may be familiar with most of these games from the VG Pocket series, whether or not you’ve ever heard of a One Station. I don’t think Bomb Fish has ever appeared on another system, though.
In this game where you play as a cat hellbent on throwing a bomb at an innocent little fish. It’s a puzzle game with some of the oddest mechanics I’ve seen in a simple 8bit puzzler. It’s a bit “push the box” but the goal isn’t just shuffling them around to get to the goal, but to destroy them while avoiding turning them into rocks.
The remake comes with a level editor so you can make your own levels, save them, and share them with friends.
The original has animations (and directions) for the cat, music, and lives/timer/crummy undo mechanics that the remake doesn’t actually have. I hope to upgrade the cat sprite in the future but that’s about the only thing left I actually want to do.
