The quaint and serene island of Divar came alive with the colourful spirit of Bonderam festival. Apparently a festival that is celebrated as a memory of the protest that villagers held years ago showing their displeasure against the rules that were adopted for settling disputes regarding the land issues. The Portuguese used to set up flags to mark areas where the villagers were unable to take over the lands of the nearby villages. Villagers used to knock down these flags as a resentment. The resentment has now replaced with lots of fun and frolic wherein the entire island and people from other parts of Goa, nation and even across the world come together to have a good time. The highlight of the event is the float parade in which different floats touch upon, relevant social messages in an entertaining format. Peppy music and local dances compel one to tap their feet and enjoy the festival to the most. Celebrated on the 4th Saturday of August every year, Bonderam reflects the true spirit of Goa. And this year one other kind of spirit supported the festival in order to make it even better, it was @grantsindia . . . . #bonderam #bonderam2019 #divar #divarisland #goa #festival #localfestival #localfest #goanfestival #goanlife #lifeingoa #itsgoa #theflagfestival #parade #floatparade #ikreatepassions #flashesofdelight #ilovegoa #local #livelocal #grantswhisky #fewmakeyou (at Divar Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1l1HxRAMxw/?igshid=6avug0a5akqd
