a few pictures of one of my most insane hauls. i ethically source all of my bones myself. it's more time consuming but i am very committed to knowing exactly where my materials come from and passing on that peace of mind to my customers as well. plus I really enjoy the "hunt" and being able to collect things myself.
some tips if you're new to vulture culture:
- if you live rurally in an area where people hunt a lot, start looking along pull of spots off of county roads or near trails, as hunter dump sites exist where all the bones go after deer have been processed. you may also be able to get this information from local hunters or butchers.
-if you have the ability to bury, and use proper precautionary measures, you can bring fresh roadkill hope and bury it for processing. i recommend using powdered baking soda based cat litter odor products for smell as well as an old cooler for the bagged animal to go in for transport. please use well fitting gloves, and i even recommend a mask. bring a separate garbage bag to discard gloves and masks. i really like using contractor bags (available in the garbage bag section) as they are much larger and more durable. I also always double bag.
-please brush up on your state's laws about what animals and bones can be legally obtained and sold. the fines are not pretty and you do not want to go through that process.
if you have any more questions or want any more tips, i would be more than happy to answer them on this post, or in a DM. happy hunting, ghouls π«
