can you imagine my bones breaking for you? nothing can be the same when this heart is caged so tightly in my ribs. i can only imagine the sun doing that thing where its rays escape through the trees and you are embraced in the hold of its refugees. i can only imagine nature when i think of you. there are no words, nothing manmade that can capture the fleeting desire that comes from your gaze.

something so fleeting is so heavy, and i can feel my bones breaking, my heart fluttering and beating, eager to escape and find refuge in your bleeding mouth, fangs bare and sharp.

I roam these haunted halls of blood and bone

following the footsteps of shadows whose faces I'll never know,

who might have called me their own

once before.

Yet I never was

and I refuse to ever be.

I'll drain my veins

until I've formed a sea,

until crimson covers the horizon,

until it's everything I see.

I'll carve my bones

and shed my skin,

rip out my hair and eyes and teeth,

until there's nothing left of me,

until there's nothing left of them,

until even their faded footsteps cease to be.

I am not the shadows',

I reject their haunted halls,

their cursed blood and bones.

They chose to cast me out

and since then I've been my own.

I've built my own mausoleum

where one day I'll rest my bones

with no curse to weight me down,

no shadows to haunt my halls.
