Made a Fansnak and the detail I went into is concerning but oh well it was fun.
It’s a tad disorganised but it’s more of a document style than anything, so oh well.
Name
This Snak’s name is Bonion and is based on the wheel bug and onion rings.
Appearance
Bonion is a flying Bugsnak that is made distinct by its onion ring shaped carapace. Its entire body is composed of a crispy shell with onions for wings that lay on top of its body, and its six legs are thin with the same texture, the joints are clearly visible as well. The eyes are small, and the upper eyelid is slanted upwards. It has a beak-like mouth that it uses to suck juices from its prey, typically smaller Bugsnax than itself. Along with this, it has a ring protruding out of its back that allow it to hang in higher places as it waits for prey.
Behaviour
Bonion is typically found in the Scorched Gorge region and is often seen in the daytime flying around, and hooked onto something as it is looking for prey. Upon seeing their prey, they will quickly swoop down and pin it with its front legs, before piercing them with its beak and draining some of its fluids. Upon doing so, its ring grows a small bit as it stores its food to be processed. It will then typically rest in a high place where it cannot be disturbed easily so that it can regain energy after hunting. At night, it disappears as it does not hunt past sunset. Curiously, it also can hunt its own kind, implying that they have no qualms eating their own for sustenance. Its most favoured prey, though, is Popticks, as they are easy to catch unaware.

Methods of Catching
The simplest way of watching Bonion is to snag it with the Snakgrappler once it has acquired prey and its ring is bigger. As it is heavier since its ring is full, it can be pulled in easily without any difficulty. Making use of Cheese Sauce is another way of catching it, luring it into another trap of some kind. It will not work on the Snaktrap, though, as its front legs will pick it up as it tries to drain the sauce. Typical ways of catching aerial Snax apply to this one as well. (launching Snaktrap via Lunchpad, Tripshot on walls, etc…) If the player gets too close to it, it will immediately start to run away, darting to and from so that it is harder to catch if it can be caught via Snakgrappler. It also lets out a pheromone that can disorient the player briefly if they do not get out of the way, giving it more time to escape.
Snakification
Upon being consumed, the affected limb will change into an onion ring if it is on the end of the affected limb, or simply the same crispy texture if it is on the upper limb. The horns will change into half onion rings, stopping as it curves up and outwards. The head will change into an onion ring, much like the one on the Snak’s back, although much larger. Teeth will change into little mini onions poking out of the affected grumpus’ mouth and change size appropriately according to their teeth shape. The body of the grumpus, upon consumption, will change into a stack of onion rings tightly packed together. A side effect of this transformation will involve a lot of grease, as their skin will begin to secrete a substance very similar to it, which can inhibit various activities such as writing or sleeping. Funnily enough, it does not affect the grumpus’ eyes, so there seems to be no need to worry about future vision impairment.
Each variant has slight differences, although the transformation is largely the same, with only a slight colour change on the body.
Red Bonion’s main distinction is its red colouring, which is more noticeable than any other variant.
Shallot Bonion’s head ring is thinner and the teeth are greener. The body is slightly paler than the original as well.
Sweet Bonion’s side effect is the sticky substance rather than the grease-like substance.
Alternate Snax
Red Bonion is the hot variant of Bonion and is found in the Sizzlin’ Sands where its behaviour is largely the same. The Snak’s body takes on a more red colour, and its ring is on fire. The eyes are also shown in anger, which is unlike any other of the Bonions. The player must first cool the Snak down via water or other means before it can be caught, and instead of evading when approached, it will charge at the player, intending on setting them alight. This can be used against it as if it smacks against a wall, it will fall and can be dragged around with the Snakgrappler. Once grabbed, the Snakgrappler will be set on fire and quickly be destroyed, but it will pull with enough force to send it towards the player, allowing them to dunk it in the water.
Shallot Bonion Is the forest variant, which appears in Garden Grove. It cannot hang as easily from things via its ring, as it is thinner than its other variants, though it makes up for that by being more evasive and can dodge the Snakgrappler if not distracted by sauce. Its wings are also greener.
Sweet Bonion appears in Suparpine Woods and is the sweet variant of Bonion. This variant secretes a sticky substance of its own, despite the original food, so if it is resting on a surface, the Snakgrappler cannot pull it from where it is laying. The wings are whiter rather than yellowish. Curiously, this one seems to be a bit cheerier than its brethren, despite also partaking in cannibalism. As a result, this one does not care about the player and will ignore them almost entirely unless provoked.
