Smaugust Day 28: Viserion

Did you know that in the book Viserion is consistently described as being cream and dark gold? Because everyone else seems to forget that and just make him regular ol’ bright gold, which is a shame because cream and dark gold look great together.

Originally I was planning on ending my Smaugust here, with a total of 28 dragons, but I've since been convinced to draw 3 more. Next will be Terrax, Nagga the sea dragon, and an ice dragon from beyond the Wall :)

Smaugust Day 12: Sunfyre

Golden boy! I mostly took his show design, but gave him different wings inspired by kitty_raccoon’s take on him + I gave him some more spikes and fins :)

Smaugust Day 27: Rhaegal

Bronze and green! I was struggling a lot with how the two colours balance but I’m happy with how he turned out. I'm especially happy with how the gradient on his tail looks!

Smaugust Day 26: Drogon

I didn’t want him to look like a mini version of Balerion too much, so he has more red than Balerion, which is probably accurate. I also gave him spikes instead of frills because in the book he’s described as having spinal plates instead of fins.

Smaugust Day 18: Morghul

I knew from the start that I wanted to give all black dragons at least one other colour because just black is just kinda boring to me, so I gave Morghul dark blue membranes.

Arrax is his show self, but with gold instead of red :)

Smaugust Day 16: Tessarion

Blue Queen! The blues I used for her here are more royal blue than cobalt, but I like this shade better, so...

Smaugust Day 21: Morning

Love the contrast between pale pink and black on her. I thought briefly about making her wings black as well, but I prefer how the darker pink looks. Notice how she closely resembles a certain other dragon? :)
