Smaugust art challenge: Flapple! 5h50!
Smaugust week 2! 🫀 Whole bunch of favourites from past 7 days. Definitely very much in mood for scales, spikes and strong necks. I bound my own sketchbooks with rag paper [that probably wasn’t the best choice, paper layers are literally peeling off but otherwise it looks so nice!] and I’m using a pen [with very loose pencil undersketch] and some acrylic ink, waterproof wash. Short, sweet and fun! More next week! Scans of all entries are on Patreon!
Day 7's theme was Tower, so I went with a blue dragon guarding a tower it most likely either wants loot from or is hoarding loot inside of. This one was painted with just Burnt Sienna (I think) and Ultramarine Blue. The granulating texture of the blue made for some interesting shadows and texture on the stone. I also added a bit of pencil details in a few places.
day 4 of smaugust brings a bright red-orange wyrm bursting through the clouds and into a bright and sunny sky. i've been thinking about clouds all week and it was time to paint some!
