Rudeness and Bad Respresentation

If Bryan Fuller wanted to write a gay love story, why didn't he just create his own story with entirely original characters? I mean, the answer is simple: money. The name "Hannibal" breeds money. But still, don't try to breed a gay relationship between two Heterosexual men who, in the source material, hated and barely even knew each other. It's incredibly disrespectful to so fundamentally change another author's creation like that - and it's not the sort of LBGT representation we need! We need a story about two men - or two women - whose love for each other helps and heals them and is mutually beneficial... NOT a story about two people literally destroying each other because of "love". PLEASE do not encourage this kind of representation! Still, even ignoring how unhealthy the relationship portrayed was, what Bryan Fuller did was deeply disrespectful. If you're not too lazy, just name your own characters guy! Fundamentally changing someone else's characters like Fuller did is unbelievably rude. Just because you bought the rights to a character's name, doesn't give you the "right" to shit on the original character and the original story. That's like saying Free Speech gives you the "right" to insult or be mean to every person you meet. It may be - technically - legal, but it's sure as hell not "right"...
