Went to Book Larder and asked for books that would help me bake pretty food. These may be aspirational until I get some more practice under my belt.
I went in to Book Larder this morning asking after Southern style baking books and was directed to Daisy Cakes Bakes. It looked interesting so I bought it.
I came home and baked a chocolate mousse cake. This is possibly the most decadent cake I’ve ever baked and I forgot to add an egg. This should have actually been more rich. Holy crap dude. It’s delicious, but you need to eat very small portions.
Great cookbook though: diverse recipes, very easy to follow instructions. I wish there were weight measurements along the volumetric ones for the ingredients, but that’s what the internet is for.
OMG, I tied for first place! Shocked and delighted :)
Today my Mom and I met Graham Kerr! When I was little we used to watch his show on PBS every week and I credit that with inspiring my love of cooking. It was a wonderful evening and we had a great Mom-Daughter night :)
Today’s Book Larder haul
Today I attended a really fun baking class at Book Larder on British baking. We made coffee walnut cake, treacle tart, and jammy dodgers. Everything was super tasty but now I desperately need to eat something salty ;)
Independent Bookstore day was kind to me :)
