the first book was so cool. it was so. Cool.

Class should not have started so suddenly after such events that happened in the last few days. Walburga swore that her father would hear the first thing about being force into coursework so soon, annoyed by the constant push to further her education when her lungs still burned from the water intake. She chose the first seat that would position her the furthest from anyone that she deemed unworthy or not up to par with her own talents in the class. It was moments into the professor’s introduction that she interrupted with a cool tone and heavy gaze towards a few in the class.
“ Professor, I am unsure if some of those in the class will be able to keep up with the coursework with their— “ Her hand did a small gesture in the air before directing her gaze across the room towards Vesta. “ —lack of access to proper resources. “ The professor did not entertain the suggestion as he continued on with the course introduction before advising the students to pair up for the remainder of the class to practice certain charms from the previous year.
Walburga remained seated with no one holding the same caliber as herself, crossing a single leg over other with a quick browse through her charms book. She could spend hours in her own secluded section of the classroom, and she would have been fine until the professor cleared his throat with a directional pull towards the students that were still left without a partner. Her gaze barely fell onto the small handful of students before glancing back towards her book.
“ Professor, once more — I doubt any of them would be able to keep up with me. Any of them are more than welcome to place themselves in a challenge, but I fear that it would only increase their self-hatred and cause more self-pity. They already have enough of that, do you not agree? “
There is a momentary anger that takes hold of the professor before sternly pointing towards the group of students unassigned once again. “ Choose a partner, Miss Black. No further discussion. “ The most dramatic roll of her eye sends herself in further annoyance of the situation before tapping the place beside her without any direction towards those unassigned. Any of them are welcome to take a place beside her, but she refuses to address any of them properly.

A light burn laced every inch of her airway with eyes barely fluttering open to soon shut again at the daunting ray of sun pushing through the window. Walburga was not where she wanted to be, and she wished desperately to rip the sun from the sky at this moment. The head nurse must have seen the slightest of movement because questions about her health were soon directed her way too quickly to respond to, tilting her head in a slow gaze up to the woman.
“ Shut up, you daft witch, “ she said between teeth to show her lack of patience with the woman. “ Get my things together. I am leaving. “
Objection was not an option for the other as she was already trying to pull herself in an upright position, scanning the room in awe at the number of students injured from the night before. There was a small wish that it had been a dream that consumed her so severely that it became reality. She tried to find someone, anyone that she cared to help her back to her room when she walked in. Her throat closed in a mirroring action as before as Electra resembled the same water that crashed into her hours before. ‘ Do not look at her, ‘ she whispered to herself with hopes that she would go overlooked.
I like it. Sounds intense. Go write more.
I will since your ask got me in flow 😅
Thanks!!! 😬
“So Magnus fixed you?” Clary said. “Luke said—” “He did!” said Isabelle. “It was so awesome. He showed up and ordered everyone out of the room and shut the door. Blue and red sparks kept exploding out into the hallway from underneath the floor.” “I don’t remember any of it,” said Alec. “Then he sat by Alec’s bed all night and into the morning to make sure he woke up okay,” Isabelle added. “I don’t remember that, either,” Alec added hastily. Isabelle’s red lips curved into a smile. “I wonder how Magnus knew to come? I asked him, but he wouldn’t say.”

“Isabelle shrugged. “I guess he heard about it somewhere. He does seem to be hooked into an enormous gossip network. He’s such a girl.” “He’s the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Isabelle,” Alec reminded her, but not without some amusement.”
“The next words tumbled out of her mouth without any volition on her part. “Have you and Isabelle ever—dated?” Now he did look at her. The moonlight leached the color out of his eyes. They were more silver than gold now. “Isabelle?” he said blankly. “I thought—” Now she felt even more awkward. “Simon was wondering.” “Maybe he should ask her.” “I’m not sure he wants to,” Clary said. “Anyway, never mind. It’s none of my business.” He smiled unnervingly. “The answer is no. I mean, there may have been a time when one or the other of us considered it, but she’s almost a sister to me. It would be strange.” “You mean Isabelle and you never—” “Never,” said Jace. “She hates me,” observed Clary. “No, she doesn’t,” he said, to her surprise. “You just make her nervous, because she’s always been the only girl in a crowd of adoring boys, and now she isn’t anymore.” “But she’s so beautiful.” “So are you,” said Jace, “and very different from how she is, and she can’t help but notice that. She’s always wanted to be small and delicate, you know. She hates being taller than most boys.”
“Simon looked gratified. “Isabelle didn’t laugh.” Clary thought of a number of things she wanted to say, and didn’t say them. “I’m not sure that’s Isabelle’s kind of humor.” Simon cut a sideways glance at her under his lashes. “Is she sleeping with Jace?” Clary’s squeak of surprise turned into a cough. She glared at him. “Ew, no. They’re practically related. They wouldn’t do that.” She paused. “I don’t think so, anyway.” Simon shrugged. “Not like I care,” he said firmly. “Sure you don’t.” “I don’t!” He rolled onto his side. “You know, initially I thought Isabelle seemed, I don’t know—cool. Exciting. Different. Then, at the party, I realized she was actually crazy.” Clary slit her eyes at him. “Did she tell you to drink the blue cocktail?” He shook his head. “That was all me. I saw you go off with Jace and Alec, and I don’t know . . . You looked so different from usual. You seemed so different. I couldn’t help thinking you’d changed already, and this new world of yours would leave me out. I wanted to do something that would make me more a part of it. So when the little green guy came by...
