Have you ever been told to send a potential agent/publisher/pa a blurb of your story?
The first time I heard this, my fingernail scratched my temple. “Huh? Say what? A blurb?”
I never heard of this before, so off to google I went.
Here’s what I learned:
most blurbs start with “When.”
Blurbs are generally one sentence long.
Blurbs should give away your story without really giving away the details.

I spent last night and this morning working out pitches for cult horror and bizarro projects. My last few novels, novellas, and stories have been quite bleak and it's taken its toll on me. I'm hoping to get a few things out there that are more fun. The cult horror project is called Goblin Gods and can only be described as Troll 2 meets The Gate. The bizarro novella pitches are pretty far out and I'm proud of them. Hopefully one or all of them are accepted.

Bowery Poetry Club, New York, NY, US Pitchapalooza is American Idol for books (only without Simon). Twenty writers will be selected at random to pitch their book. Each writer gets one minute—and only one minute! In the last month, three writers have gotten publishing deals as a result of participating in Pitchapalooza.
This could be your chance to make it big!
PRIZE: At the end of Pitchapalooza, the judges will pick a winner. The winner receives an introduction to an agent or publisher appropriate for his/her book.
