1. mazel tov on finishing part of your degree!!!! 2. you mentioned the fact that the gatsby copyright is expiring and i feel it is my solemn duty to inform everybody of the upcoming novel "the chosen and the beautiful" by nghi vo, described as "a magical reimagining of The Great Gatsby told through the eyes of a queer, Asian-American Jordan Baker as the American immigrant narrative that Gatsby always should have been."
1) thank you so much! & 2) AHHH i cannot wait to read that, i have a feelings it’s gonna be everything i’ve always wanted— i’m really not a classic lit person over all (my english concentration is in medieval linguistics, technically) but tgg is unfortunately a hugely foundational text for me, so i’m stuck with it lmaoo
“You see the Devil every day. The Devil hugs you and eats right next to you.” “Daddy’s not the Devil.” “I never said he was. …” Frances has got a dry look, tinder in the eye; her voice is a stack of hay heating up at the center, her mouth a stitched line. “I’m the Devil.” - Fall On Your Knees, Ann-Marie MacDonald
Book number two of the year.
Really pleasantly surprised by this. Dark, moody kind of tone that is given structure by the pov of a dead girl who loves science and stars. The story unfolds in layers, uneven on purpose, hinting at a past but also a future for the characters. It’s just really, really nice? Tense but refreshing.
Also, a bisexual main character, but no real romance in the story? Unheard of. Such a nice thing to see.
Yo can anyone recommend any f/f trashy romance novels?
Ok guys I am under a lot of stress lately and I tend to destress by reading so anybody got any book recs?
Book Recommendation: Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
