I was tagged by thebooklands!! Thanks for the questions!
1. Have you ever stolen a book? What book No, unless you count the book I borrowed from my friend and never gave back (It's ok, she doesn't care). That book is the Templar Legacy by Steve Berry.
2. Which author has a name you love to say? Ooh, I've never really thought about this one. I don't think I have any authors like this...maybe Kim Gruenenfelder because that last name is ridiculous.
3. Have you ever bought a book twice on accident? I am weirdly knowledgeable about which books I own, so no. I remember books I loaned out years ago and haven't gotten back, so I'd remember if I bought one already. The only books I've bought twice are ones I've lost.
4. What book has the worst title? I honestly can't think of a book with a title I hate.
5. Can you separate an author from his/her works? I'm not very good at it. I feel like if I knew too much about an author, I would project what I know of their personalities onto their characters and stories.
6. Do you have to visualize characters as you read? I'm terrible at visualizing characters! They're never very defined in my head...at least their faces aren't.
7. Is it hard to not picture the actors as the characters if a book has been adapted? Yes, but sometimes I like it better, because, as stated before, I'm bad at visualizing characters. Although sometimes I will completely reject an actor if they don't fit the character while reading.
8. What’s the most you would pay for a book? Probably $30 for a special book, like that Pioneer Girl: Annotated Autobiography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I actually don't mind paying full price or anything if it is a book I really want or at a independent book store. But I won't pay $50 for those pretty coffee table books. I'm too poor for that.
9. Do you consider yourself a collector of books? Or a reader? Or both? I'm a collector in that I like owning my books. However, I'm not big on editions or even condition. I prefer to buy nice editions and keep my books in good condition, but I won't buy solely hardcover or buy another edition that I like better if I already own the book.
10. What’s one word you recently learned from reading? I wish I had an answer for this because it is such a good question. However, I can't think of any new words I've learned recently. :-/
11. Would you buy a foreign edition of a book just for the cover? If so (or if you have) which cover are we talking about here? I kind of said it before but probably not unless I didn't already own it. And I would only buy a book in a foreign language I didn't know if I was visiting the country and wanted a cool souvenir, especially if I were trying to learn the language.
I'm too lazy to make questions or tag people. Sorry. :)
Book Tag: 11 Questions
I was tagged by booksandbooksandbooksandbooks. Thanks :)
Rule 1: Always post the rules Rule 2: Answer all the questions the person who tagged you asked and then write 11 new ones Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them to the post Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them.
QUESTIONS: 1. What are you currently reading? Just finished The Intern's Handbook by Shane Kuhn, about to read Possession by J.R. Ward.
2. Favourite book you’ve read this year? So far? Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion are tied. 3. Can you count on your fingers how many books you’ve bought this year or have they all blended together into the tenths of thousands? Um, I work in a library, so I hardly ever buy books. Definitely can count on my fingers. :) 4. What’s your favourite book blog? Well, besides our own Cheshire Library Blog (which I also helm - shameless plug!), I'm a big romance reader, so I'd have to say All About Romance and Smart Bitches Trashy Books are 2 blogs I frequent. Also, one of our CPL staff members writes a fun book blog, Sharon the Librarian.( yup, I know that's 4, I'm not very good at following directions, obviously!)
5. Favorite place to read? In bed, def. 6. Worst book you’ve ever read and why? I'm loathe to single any out as WORST, but the first 2 Twilght books (didn't read the others) and Mockingjay stand out as memorable disappointments. Twilight for SO MANY reasons, but mainly because of Bella-the-doormat; and Mockingjay for the ending which I felt could have been so much stronger and tainted the whole series for me. 7. Book to movie you are most excited for? I'm barely restraining my excitement for the new Outlander series on Starz, coming this summer.
8. What got you into reading? Parents? A series? A specific book or a friend/relative? Other? I don't really know, I just remember always loving it. I was a shy kid, and books were my friends. :) 9. Book that made you want to bash your head into a wall? Twilight 10. Author you would most like to meet? Diana Gabaldon & Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket. How's that for diverse? 11. Opinion on books made mainstream. Hunger Games, Divergent, The Mortal Instruments, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, The Fault In Our Stars, etc. Fantastic, the more people are exposed to a great book, the better!
