Considering this made it to my top books of 2023 in the company of such others as two Sanderson books and Lockwood & Co., I'd say favorite is perhaps a paltry term. The world always needs more selkie books, and this one is my exact favorite flavor of selkie rep on TOP of being a lovely Little Mermaid retelling with just the right dusting of normalized fantasy-Christianity and a heroine who kicks the whole plot off because she's distraught over NOT getting an arranged marriage. *chef's kiss* Man, just writing that kind of makes me want to reread...

Book title ask: The Murderbot books by Martha Wells?

Complicated feelings on that series--very much there for the eponymous character and their personality/arc/relationships. 1000%. would I too like to be able to observe people through cameras and not have to eye-contact them when I didn't feel up to it? totally. but as the series went on I think I started to get a little lost world/big-plot-wise (which was probably completely on me and the gaps between when I read the first several and then the newer one or two just based on how they were available from the library), plus the Content meant I felt I had to keep these on the down-low on Goodreads (I liked them enough to log that I'd read them but didn't rate/review them and tried to keep them off the main feed when I entered them xD). So yeah. Complicated xD

Hii! For the book ask : The Humans by Matt Haig. I feel like not a lot of people have read it, and it's shame cause it's a masterpiece.

If you have never heard of it, basically the book is narrated by an alien who had to come down to earth disguised as a human (to do stuff I won't spoil). He talkes about how he learned what being a human means and what the human world looks like. It's both funny and thoughtful, cause you have a neutral point of view on the most daily things. I love this book so much, it always manages to give me hope and calm my "existencial anxiety".

I hadn't heard of this one before but your summary and the summary I looked up make it sound very interesting! It was compared to Douglas Adams, who I love, so it's gotta be good lol

I read HMD and it’s first two sequels just after they all came out and loved them! I didn’t like the rest of the series as much though.

Have you read The Library of Babel? It’s a super short read, and it’s one of my all time favorites!
