Just come back from a mini break in Wales and being your typical book fiend, I had to drop in on Hay-on-Wye, fabulous book town which boasts over twenty bookshops. One of my favourites is Richard Booth’s Bookshop, a mixture of new and secondhand books that has this awesome staircase! I need one of these in my life 🤔 #bookstagram #bookworm #bookfiend #readingonholiday #bookshops #hayonwye #richardboothsbookshop #staircasetoheaven 😂 https://www.instagram.com/p/B2SDldEAxkW/?igshid=3bcb8vccc2fi

Have you read my first book?
DRAWINGS | Kyra Cane Ceramics
Artist Research for Ceramics Elective
There are an incredible amount of ceramic artists to delve into ranging from conceptual to fine art to sculptural. Tutor Elaine Riordan introduced me to Kyra Cane.
I like how she captures delicate marks and colours in her pieces. To me they are elegant by maintaining the natural look of the clay colours and introducing natural earthy color which remind me of the landscape. She hand throws her pots on the wheel where no two pots are identical.
"Making for me is about working with risk, surfaces react to the slightest touch"
A selection of books Elaine Riordan has as references and research that I am making my way through.
Hello everyone and hope the week is going well. Today I’m too hot for a tea so instead it’s #juiceandcurrentlyreading time! As some of you may know, I’m recovering from a thyroidectomy due to Graves’ disease so that’s giving me plenty of time to catch up on my reading. You may also not be surprised to know that I’m currently reading 10 books at the moment 🤣🤣🤣 (not all pictured) Here’s the lowdown: On my Kindle: I Know Who You Are - Alice Feeney (25% through) I Know What You’ve Done - Dorothy Koomson (halfway through) Hope to Die - Cara Hunter (halfway through) Audiobook The Bazaar Of Bad Dreams - Stephen King (halfway through) #keeperofkingbookclub Nightmares and Dreamscapes (3/4 of the way through) Buddy read with Mr B lasting all year: Light Rains Sometimes Fall: A British Year Through Japan’s 72 Ancient Seasons - Lev Parikian (halfway through) Her Last Holiday - C.L. Taylor borrowed from @chrissireads (two-thirds of the way through) Dragonfly In Amber - Diana Gabaldon In my quest to read the Outlander series, this is the second book (halfway through) Current nonfiction on the go: Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives Of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley - Charlotte Gordon This is a chunky beast but I’m loving every moment of it (Almost halfway through). Current re-read on the go: The Lady Of The Rivers - Philippa Gregory I always have a book I’m re-reading. This year I’ve fancied reading the Tudor novels in order historically and this is the first! Almost finished and will probably pick a new re-read from my shelves tomorrow. I’m done! I know you might think I’m a little bit crazy 😜 but I love flipping between multiple adventures. I’ve actually calmed down a bit - a few weeks ago I was reading 17 books at a time! 🤣 As always, I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Morning from the UK everyone! Bit of an early post from me today as I’m scheduled to get my thyroid out this morning 🫣 obviously I had to share a book haul with you first though!! The House With The Golden Door is the second book in @elodielharper Wolf Den trilogy and I buddy read it with the beautiful Cath from @sandladysbooks review coming soon but I loved it! Set in Pompeii, this trilogy reimagines the lives of women often overlooked. Carrying on along a similar line, we have a short story by Madeleine Miller, one of my favourite authors. This tells the tale of a gifted sculptor in Ancient Greece who is blessed by a goddess when his sculpture comes to life. Now his wife, Galatea is expected to be obedient and humble but she soon learns to use her beauty to her advantage. Her husband locks her up to keep her under control but she has a daughter to rescue and is determined to escape, whatever the cost. Finally, it’s the second book by Douglas Stuart, Young Mungo after the success of Shuggie Bain and winning the Booker prize. It tells the story of two young men, Protestant Mungo and Catholic James who should be sworn enemies but end up best friends and fall in love. This is a gripping and revealing story about the bounds of masculinity, the push and pull of family, the violence faced by so many queer people and the dangers of loving someone too much. I’m due to read this soon with the #scottishbookclub and I can’t wait! I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello everyone and welcome to part 4 of my birthday book haul! I was thoroughly spoiled by family and friends this year so thank you very much to them. 🥰 Two books from this pile I’ve already read - The Color Purple and Three Women but I didn’t have them as physical books so I bought them for my favourites shelf. I was also intrigued by Elizabeth Day’s book on How To Fail and thought I could apply it quite therapeutically to my own personal circumstances, hoping it helps! Finally I’ve heard wonderful things about Vivek Oji and even though I haven’t read any of the authors work before, I’m looking forward to this novel. Final part of my birthday book haul coming on Friday! As always, I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors.
