I’d say it’s too vague. The main thing you want are the stakes to be super clear. Agents always comment on needing to know what’s at stake and what the MC must do.

Headlock or some sort of incorrectly done similar move? Instead of cutting off blood flow the FBI cuts off oxygen?

Thank you so much, bookishbiologist and whisky--tango--foxtrot , for your help. Let's see if I can be clearer. Yeah, like actually dead, and no brain activity - because this story includes a thingy that can store a person's consciousness for a short time, just as long as the body could be repaired. And then he would be able to "reanimate" himself. Using life support would be an option, briefly, too, to keep him fresh, lol.

My main problem is that ideally I'd just shoot him, but any gunshot injury that would potentially kill a person would also take them out of the story for at least a few weeks, and this group of people is on the run. I'd need him to be up and about pretty quickly. So I can't really shoot him in the shoulder and whatnot because that would be months of physical therapy, right? So I need an injury that *could* kill you, but from which you'd heal pretty quickly if you didn't die from it.

And also, something fast, sudden, spur-of-the-moment. It's a cop-like agent that kills him, so the only thing I can come up with is a gun.

It's present-day, no magic, etc.
