1. Name: Leah Rachel 2. Nickname: I have a couple—Leebear is the main actual nickname. 3. Zodiac sign: Aries! Scorpio rising, moon in Aquarius ;) I’m less into astrology now, but I’m still a fan. 5. Orientation: Bisexual, demisexual. 6. Nationality: American (New Jerseyian, rcent Chicagoan) 7. Favorite fruit: Apples and strawberries 8. Favorite season: Definitely spring. It’s my birthday, it’s when the seasonal affective disorder bleeds away, it’s when life springs from the ground and flowers bloom—especially periwinkle—and when I can finally read and walk again because the temperatures warm. My runner-up is autumn—I like that cool, mild temperature. 9: Favorite book: So many! Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, The Waves by Virginia Woolf, The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro, Paradise by Toni Morrison, and Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor are just some of the contenders. 10. Favorite flower: The flowers that remind me of growing up—the ones that I helped my father plant in our lovely, lovely garden. They’re tattooed on my back: peonies, sunflowers, roses, periwinkle, and day lilies. And I’ll add lavender to that list for sure. 11. Favorite scent: I like calming scents, the kind of things you’d find in sleep or anti-stress candles and lotions—mint, eucalyptus, pine, lavender, chamomile. 12. Favorite color: Dark blue. I also wear a lot of bright red. 13. Favorite animal: It seems like bears. I like koalas, but also good old grizzly bears. Horses are a close second. 14. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: Coffee. I’ve become hopelessly addicted to caffeine. I’m that kid who gets caffeine headaches and is grumpy if I miss my morning cup of coffee. 15. Average hours of sleep: Eight if I’m sleeping. Less if the insomnia is Out and About. 16. Cats or dogs: Cats. I love, love, love dogs, and have an adorable golden lab back in New Jersey named Chelsea Sunshine, but I am definitely a cat person. I volunteered at a shelter for a couple years in high school working with cats, and it cemented that for me. You have to earn a cat’s love, and I think that’s what a lot of people hate, but I enjoy. 17. Number of blankets you sleep with: I usually like my room to be chilly so that I can snuggle under my nice comforter. Unfortunately, my apartment building has other plans, and often fall through winter, it’s way too warm for my comfort in my studio, so I end up just kind of loosely draped with a sheet. 18. Dream trip: I just did one of them. The next dream tip is a similarly two-week whirlwind of a tour, but this time, through Spain—staying a good five days in Barcelona, and stopping at minimum in Madrid, Toledo, Valencia, Córdoba, and Grenada. In real-life plans for next year, I also have a fairy tale holidays trip to Germany tentatively planned with a friend, and a trip to Alaska with my mom. 19. Blog created: March 2015.
